Sign Language

These are words that I know the real ASL sign for, though I sometimes have problems putting my hands and fingers in the right places.

Home Signs

These are signs/actions that I do that are not really ASL, but certainly get my point across.

  • Shema/pray (covering eyes)
  • ear (pointing to ear)
  • belly button (pointing)
  • shoes/socks (patting foot)
  • phone (hand to hear, like holding a phone)
  • watch (patting wrist)

Words

These are the words that I actually say. Some of them are more clear than others, and some are less words than associative sounds

  • draw ("jaw") - 5/12/06
  • please ("mish" or "pish") - 5/12/06
  • abba (means "Daddy" in Hebrew, but is currently being applied to both parents)
  • belly button ("buh-buh")
  • yes ("yesh" or "jesh")
  • eye (with a southern twang)
  • bye (with a southern twang)
  • hi (with a southern twang)

These are the animal noises that I can make, though I need prompting for a few of them.
